HomeCeramic Coating Process

How We Protect Your Car's Paint

Our ceramic coating process starts well before the coating is applied. Careful decontamination, paint preparation and correction create the clean, properly prepared surface needed for a quality ceramic coating installation.

From washing and decontamination through to machine polishing, coating application and curing, each stage is completed with your vehicle and chosen coating system in mind.

Our ceramic coating process takes approximately 8–10 hours to complete. Depending on the coating system selected, your vehicle may be ready for collection the same day or need to remain in our secure workshop overnight to cure.

We’ll talk you through our recommendations alongside any preferences you have, so you can make an informed choice based on your vehicle, priorities and circumstances.

1. Preparation

i. Wash & Decontamination

We wash and decontaminate your vehicle using professional products and equipment to thoroughly clean the paint and remove bonded contamination.

Even on a brand-new vehicle, this is an important step. Contamination can already be present on the paint and may interfere with proper coating adhesion.

ii. Paint Correction

We machine polish the paint as part of our preparation process. Also known as paint correction, this helps improve paint clarity and address light defects before the ceramic coating is applied.

Our complimentary single-step paint correction is included with our ceramic coating packages. It also helps remove residues or imperfections that may be present even on a new vehicle, leaving the paint properly prepared for coating.

iii. Final Surface Preparation

We complete a final surface preparation to remove polishing oils and other residues left on the paint. This leaves a clean surface ready for the selected ceramic coating system to be applied.

2. Coating Application

Once the paint is properly prepared, the selected ceramic coating is carefully applied in controlled sections using the application method specified for that coating system.

The coating is allowed the appropriate time to settle before any excess product is carefully levelled to leave a consistent finish across the painted surface.

Where a dual-layer system has been selected, the additional coating layer is applied according to the required application and curing times for that system.

3. Curing & Collection

After application, the ceramic coating needs time to begin curing and forming its protective layer. The initial curing requirements vary depending on the coating system installed.

Some coating systems allow your vehicle to be returned the same day, while others require the vehicle to remain in our secure workshop overnight before collection.

We’ll explain the relevant curing and aftercare requirements before your vehicle is returned so you know how to look after the coating during its initial cure and beyond.
